We have a very active junior contingent within Meriden Archery Club, meeting as a group every Saturday morning between 10am and 1pm. Enthusiastic young archers kick off the sessions by leading the warm ups to chart music, encouraging their peers to get stuck in and boosting confidence too. It’s a great way to wake them up and get settled in, but sometimes ear plugs are recommended!

Junior Compilation

Meriden juniors have achieved many successes.  As a team, they won the BA Frostbite last year and were placed 3rd in The Perris League last year. Individuals have also achieved numerous successes, flying the flag for Meriden across the country. We will support and guide any junior entering their first competition.

The sessions vary each week, with juniors given the chance to shoot rounds to improve classifications, achieve progress badges and enter postal leagues as well as fun sessions and simulation tournaments. We’re also lucky enough to have very experienced archers within Meriden who support us by popping along to share their wisdom of high level competitions, giving juniors top tips for training, and even just joining us in our sessions!

Junior Club is organised by our Junior Liaison Officer, supported by fully qualified AGB Coaches ranging from Level 1 through to Senior Coach. We welcome archers of all levels and abilities, recognising that every young archer is different, with differing learning styles, needs and goals. We work with them to achieve progression and knowledge, whilst ensuring enjoyment of the sport along the way. As a team, we are committed to continually improving ourselves in order to give the best learning experience to our juniors. Parents aren’t forgotten either, and to enhance their role we encourage them to get stuck in as well, starting gently with tea making through to helping move target faces and generally working as a wider support team on the Saturday morning.

Charity Shoot 2015

Outside of Junior Club sessions, our young archers have the same 24/7 access to the club facilities as any other member. Our only restriction is that they must be accompanied by a parent (or a nominated responsible person) and relevant AGB cover. Further details on this can be explained if you pop along to see us. Individual coaching can also be arranged mutually if you so wish.
