Meriden Archery Club runs Beginners’ Courses for those wishing to enter the sport and Taster Sessions for individuals, clubs, societies and schools.
Taster Sessions
If you want to arrange an individual or small group session to see if Archery is the sport for you, or if you’re looking for a different way to entertain clients or a change from the usual staff night out then a Taster Session could be ideal. Maybe a birthday party – for young or old? Contact us with a few dates and times that would suit you using the form below. We cannot do Saturday mornings or any time on Sunday, and between October and March we only run these events during the day. The session will last about an hour and a half – all equipment will be provided and will be led by a qualified coach. Small parties up to 6 people (e.g. family groups) can normally be accommodated by arrangement at a charge of £15 per head. For larger groups, normally up to a maximum of 12-15 people, the charge will be £20 per head. Under special circumstances we may be able go up to a maximum of 20 participants. We will need at least four weeks’ notice to arrange a session and the minimum age for participants is 10 years.
What happens at one of our Taster Sessions?
- You will be met by a qualified coach who will be on hand throughout the evening to ensure that your shooting is safe as well as enjoyable.
- After the initial safety briefing, you will learn a basic shooting technique.
- We provide all necessary equipment for each person attending.
- Your coaches will be with you throughout and will help you enjoy shooting your first arrows.
- Over the course of the session, your technique and accuracy will improve.
- Barbeques are available and fuel is included in the cost of the event. Bring along your own food to cook and eat outside, although you can eat inside if the weather lets you down.

Booking your Taster Session
To be covered by our insurance, these events have to be arranged well in advance. We would ask for your choice of three dates, with at least four weeks’ notice.
